Basic Bike Tune-Up
Basic Bike Tune-Up in Raleigh — $95
Your bike’s been sitting in the garage for a few months. Maybe the tires are low, the shifting feels a little off, or you just want to make sure everything’s safe before your next ride. That’s exactly what our basic bike tune-up is for. At Bell Lap Cycleworks, we’ll give your bike a thorough once-over so you can get back on the road — or the trail — with confidence. It’s $95, and most bikes are ready the same week.
This is our entry-level service, and it’s the right call if your bike is generally in decent shape but just needs a seasonal check or a quick refresh. You don’t need a full overhaul every time — sometimes a basic tune-up is all it takes to get things rolling smoothly again.
What’s Included
Here’s how it works. We go through five key areas of your bike to make sure the basics are dialed in:
- Brake adjustment — We check your brake pads for wear, adjust cable tension, and make sure both brakes engage properly. You’ll have confident, responsive stopping power.
- Shifting adjustment — We fine-tune your front and rear derailleurs so your gears shift cleanly across the full range. No more skipping, grinding, or ghost shifts.
- Tire inflation check — We inflate your tires to the correct pressure for your tire type and riding style. This alone makes a big difference in how your bike feels.
- Quick safety inspection — We check your headset, wheel quick releases or thru-axles, handlebars, and seatpost to make sure nothing is loose or worn out.
- Bolt torque check — We go over the critical fasteners on your bike and make sure everything is snug to spec. Loose bolts cause creaks, rattles, and worse.
That’s the full rundown. We’re not replacing parts or doing deep cleaning at this level — this is a focused check and adjustment service. If we spot something that needs attention beyond the basics, we’ll let you know before doing any extra work. No surprises.
Who Is the Basic Tune-Up For?
This service is a great fit if you’re a casual rider who gets out a few times a month, or if you’re pulling your bike out of storage for the season. It’s also the right choice if you recently had major work done and just need a quick follow-up to make sure everything is still holding up. Riders across Raleigh, North Raleigh, Wake County, and the Triangle Area NC bring their bikes to us for this exact reason — it’s quick, affordable, and it keeps your bike safe.
If you’re commuting daily, riding hard on gravel or mountain trails, or your bike hasn’t been touched in a couple of years, you probably need more. That’s where our other tune-up tiers come in.
Basic vs. Standard vs. Overhaul — What to Expect
We offer three tune-up levels so you can pick the one that matches your bike’s condition:
- Basic Tune-Up ($95) — Brake and shifting adjustments, tire inflation, safety check, bolt torque. Best for bikes that are in good overall shape.
- Standard Tune-Up ($175) — Everything in the basic, plus drivetrain cleaning and lubrication, brake cable inspection, wheel truing, and a more thorough inspection. Good for bikes ridden regularly.
- Overhaul Tune-Up ($275) — The full treatment. Complete disassembly, deep clean, bearing inspection, cable and housing replacement, full drivetrain service. Best for bikes that haven’t been serviced in a long time or are showing real wear.
Not sure which one you need? Give us a call or bring your bike by either location. We’ll take a look and give you an honest recommendation. We’re not going to upsell you on work your bike doesn’t need — that’s not how we operate.
Turnaround and Scheduling
Most basic tune-ups are done within a day or two. During busy spring and summer months, it might take a little longer, but we typically turn bikes around within the same week. If you’re on a tight timeline — say you’ve got a ride this weekend — let us know when you drop it off and we’ll do our best to work you in.
We service bikes at both of our Raleigh locations:
- Creedmoor Road: 6300 Creedmoor Rd #138, Raleigh, NC 27612
- Lafayette Village: 8480 Honeycutt Rd #126, Raleigh, NC 27615
Creedmoor Road is open Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Lafayette Village is open Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
