Quick Answers

Services and Pricing

How much does a bike tune-up cost?

Three tiers: Basic $95, Standard $175, Overhaul $275. Basic covers brake and shifting adjustment, drivetrain clean, and a safety check. Standard adds deeper drivetrain and bearing service. Overhaul is a full tear-down — every bearing, cable, and contact point.

How much does a bike fitting cost?

A comprehensive fitting is $250 and runs two to three hours with Josh Hatchell, our IBFI-certified fitter. That includes pre-fit interview, body measurements, on-bike fitting, saddle pressure mapping, and written documentation. Pre-purchase consultations, cleat adjustments, and indoor trainer fittings are priced separately — give us a call.

When can I book a bike fitting?

Fittings are by appointment only and run on specific days at each shop: Creedmoor Road runs fittings Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and Lafayette Village runs fittings Tuesday and Thursday. Pick whichever location and day works best for you — book online at Creedmoor or Lafayette, or call Creedmoor (919) 417-1102 / Lafayette (919) 272-9731.

How much does a custom build cost?

Build labor is $275 plus the cost of frame, components, and wheels. That covers full assembly, cable routing, bleed and tune, tubeless setup, and our QC checklist. Total project cost depends on what you spec — call Creedmoor at (919) 417-1102 or Lafayette at (919) 272-9731 to start an estimate.

How much does chain waxing cost?

Initial Silca chain wax is $75; interim re-wax is $30. The first wax includes the multi-stage strip of factory lube — that’s the labor-intensive part. After that, you’re just topping up every 200–300 miles.

How much does brake repair cost?

Common brake services run $15–$40. Brake adjustment is $15 per brake, new pads $25 installed, hydraulic bleed $40, and a full cable and housing replacement is $40. Anything beyond pads or cables we’ll quote before installing.

What’s your hourly shop rate?

$75 per hour for anything off the menu. Most common services are flat-rate and posted on our service pages — the hourly rate covers custom work, unusual repairs, and shop labor that doesn’t fit a standard line item.

Do you assemble bikes shipped in a box?

Yes. Bike build from box is $75 — that covers full assembly, brake bleed if needed, shifting setup, torque check, and a safety inspection before you ride it. Bring the box by either location.

Scheduling

Do I need an appointment?

For repairs and tune-ups, no. Bring your bike by during shop hours and we’ll write it up. For bike fittings, yes — those are scheduled because each one runs two to three hours. Creedmoor Road runs fittings Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; Lafayette Village runs them Tuesday and Thursday. Lafayette Village is open Tuesday–Saturday for walk-ins. Creedmoor Road is by appointment for Saturday work.

Can I book online?

Yes. We use Hubtiger for online booking. Service drop-offs go through the location-specific booking pages: Creedmoor Road or Lafayette Village. Bike fittings have their own scheduling pages so you book on a day Josh is fitting: Creedmoor (Mon/Wed/Fri) or Lafayette (Tue/Thu). The fastest way to get on the schedule is still a phone call — Creedmoor (919) 417-1102 or Lafayette (919) 272-9731, especially for fittings or anything that needs a conversation up front.

Do you take walk-ins?

Walk-ins are welcome during shop hours at both locations. Quick fixes — flat tires, derailleur tweaks, brake adjustments — can sometimes happen while you wait. Larger work goes on the queue.

How long until my bike is ready?

Most tune-ups and repairs are ready in 2–3 business days. We aim for same-week turnaround on standard work. If parts have to be ordered, we’ll let you know up front.

Locations and Hours

Where are the Bell Lap Cycleworks shops?

Two North Raleigh locations. Creedmoor Road: 6300 Creedmoor Rd #138, Raleigh, NC 27612 (Lynnwood Collection plaza), phone (919) 417-1102. Lafayette Village: 8480 Honeycutt Rd #126, Raleigh, NC 27615, phone (919) 272-9731.

What are your hours?

Creedmoor Road is open Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM (closed Saturday and Sunday). Lafayette Village is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM (closed Sunday and Monday).

Which location should I go to?

For repairs, tune-ups, sales, and custom builds, either location works — pick whichever is closer. For bike fittings, the day determines the location: Creedmoor Road is the fitting shop on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and Lafayette Village is the fitting shop on Tuesday and Thursday. Both shops have the equipment Josh needs to do a full fitting.

Brands and Products

What brands do you sell?

We’re authorized dealers for Specialized, Bianchi, TIME, Niner, and State Bicycle. Five brands we ride, wrench on, and stand behind — picked because they cover road, gravel, mountain, and value-priced builds without overlap.

Can you order a bike that’s not in stock?

Yes. Special orders through our authorized dealer accounts are common — if Specialized, Bianchi, TIME, Niner, or State makes it, we can usually source it. Lead time depends on the brand and model. Give us a call to start a special order.

Do you work on bikes you don’t sell?

Yes. We service every brand — Trek, Cannondale, Giant, Cervélo, vintage steel, e-bikes, you name it. Sales is one part of the business; the bench is open to anything that rolls in.

Process and What to Expect

What to expect when I bring my bike in

Bring your bike by during shop hours and we’ll write up a work order on the spot. We’ll talk through what you’re noticing on the ride, do a quick inspection, and quote the work before we touch anything. You’ll get a call when it’s ready.

How and when do I pay?

You pay at pickup — card or cash. Drop-off doesn’t cost anything; the work order is the estimate, and you settle up when the bike’s ready. If we find something off-menu while it’s on the stand, we’ll call before doing the work.

Do I need a bike fitting if my bike feels OK?

Not strictly. Most riders book a fitting because of pain, a new bike, or a real performance goal. If your bike is comfortable for the rides you’re doing, you can skip it. If you’re chasing more comfort or more power, that’s where a fitting earns its $250.
